At 8 p.m Beijing time, Sep 22nd, the Center for International Program (CIP) at the School of Finance, Renmin University of China(SFRUC) held an online orientation for the Class of 2020 MSF Program. Ms.Song Yuanyuan,director of CIP hosted the video meeting. Prof.Qian Zongxin, from the top management team of SFRUC also attended the meeting. They gave a warm welcome to new students and made a thorough introduction to the school and the MSF program.
To start the meeting with, students from class of 2019 MSF program shared their experience over the past year studying at SFRUC, they advised the new students to take the opportunity to learn more about China, take use of SFRUC’s rich academic resources and build up connections with the professors. Then Ms.Song invited each student to do a self-introduction.The students of the 2020 MSF programcame from countries all over the world : Canada, Portugal, Vietnam, Malaysia, Mongolia, Kenya, Ghana, Cape Verde and etc. Although most of them couldn’t come to China due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they build connection through exchanging backgrounds and work experiences online with the hope of getting together soon on the RUC campus one day.
After hearing from every new student, Prof.Qian expressed his gratitude to the students for their cooperation on this special online orientation. He expected them to overcome uncertainties and difficulties during future online study, keep an optimistic attitude towards challenges and constantly seek advice from professors. He ensured that SFRUC will do her utmost to give the support and help every student needs.
Ms. Song then went further to talk about MSF program’s highlights and advantages. She started with China’s economy and finance development trends, as well as the resilience China’s economyhas shown despite the COVID-19, then she explained the significance for foreign students to study finance in Chinaas the country is further opening its financial market. She went on introducing the course module, distinguished teaching faculty, SFRUC’s academic heritage and strong alumni connection.
To give more details on MSF program,Ms.Songtalked about the scholarship policy,MSF alumni events schedule and encouraged students to participate in contributing stories and ideas to the program official website (http://sf.ruc.edu.cn/msf/) together. Additionally, Ms.Song gave a introduction on SFRUC’s new program,“MS_FinTech ”whichwill officially begins on the fall of 2021. It’s the first fully English-taught FinTech master program for international students in China.

Mr.Zhou Runfeng,MSF teaching affairs secretary,shared important information on course selecting,course credit, internship and thesis requirement, as well as other important details of online studying. Further questions were asked by the students, Mr.Zhou gave detailed explanation during the meeting.
Finally, Ms.Song pointed out that the year of 2020 is an exceptional year for all of us. For now, the MSF Program could only held classes online due to the pandemic and this situation brought up new challenges for everyone—professors and students.“I hope this signature MSF program at SFRUC will help each one of you gain valuable knowledge and skills, I sincerely believe you can all seize new opportunities under challenges and achieve your life goals!”Ms.Song said.
